Samaritan (Short-Term Illness)

Samaritan

The Samaritan Meals ministry prepares meals for Parkside families who are in the midst of short-term, difficult situations.

The Process

When a person or family would like to request meal assistance due to surgery or a significant health issue, they should contact the church office and ask to speak with a pastor.  Once their needs have been determined, a Samaritan Meal Ministry (SMM) Leader can then be assigned to coordinate the meals.

The SMM Leader will contact our volunteers as well as the leaders of any ministries or church groups in which the family is involved.  Potential meal volunteers will be provided with a schedule of when meals are needed and can sign up to prepare and deliver a meal to the family in need. The volunteer will be provided directions to the home, a delivery time, and any other pertinent information (such as food allergies or restrictions, family size, etc.).

  • General Instructions

As a general guideline, please bring meals that are ready to serve.  For instance, cook rice and noodles so they only need to be warmed before serving.  Our goal is to limit a family’s work load, so if you can prevent any step in serving the meal, please do so!

  • Sample Dinner Meals

These menus are meant as a guide to give you an idea what kind of meal you might bring.  We do not assign specific meals, but you may be asked what you intend to bring so that, when possible, we can avoid providing one family with several similar meals in a row.
