Cool screenshots!

One of our goals this past month was to begin advertising the (now) twenty-nine apps Mark has been working on, introduced in our last letter. However, it soon became apparent that we need a more attractive presentation. So, Mark has been developing more eye-catching screenshots for the landing page in Google Play Store.

Next are three screenshots (out of seven) from the newest app. This app is designed to give people practice reading, and will soon be available for two Quechua varieties. We still need to finish the last audio narrations before we post it.

Music in the air

Mark was able to improve the apps for the five hymnbooks by including a new option allowing the user to listen to each hymn. One of the hymnbooks is located here. You can click here to listen to a favorite Quechua hymn accompanied by a traditional Andean harp and violin. The start of the hymn translates: Day after day I keep on, trusting in you, continually thinking of your Word…

Details, details

Mark was also able to make adjustments to the six Bible apps which had several links and cross references which were not working. Getting all the details to work make his day!

What’s happening in Peru?

Did you know that Mark was invited as the guest teacher at two Quechua church services, Sunday July 5th and August 2nd? When everyone’s attending online, it doesn’t matter where the speaker is speaking from! Our partners in Peru have been busy at work. Check out some of their videos here.

Things are not going well in Peru with the virus. This past week Peru extended and expanded quarantine measures. Sundays the whole country is confined to home by a curfew. The part of the mountains where our Quechua co-workers live continues to have an additional curfew from 8 pm to 4 am Monday through Saturday. Several people we know are sick with the virus.

Praise and Prayer Requests

*Praise: for the completion of the hymnbook apps with matching music and improving the Bible apps.

*Continue to pray for good opportunities to get the word out and advertise what’s available for Quechua speakers to use on their cell phones. Most people do not have a smart phone, but they are becoming more common.

*Praise for opportunities to watch two of our grandchildren as their parents sort, organize, and pack. They were to have left for North Africa this month, but as many others have experienced, COVID has shut down much travel. So, they’re off to the Kansas City area this coming week where there is a large population of people from the country where they will be serving. The plan is to start learning that country’s dialect of Arabic in preparation for when they can actually move overseas. Pray for them as they meet up with teammates and transition to Plan B.

*Pray for the many all over the world who are hurting in this pandemic.

There are SO many things to be thankful for, including you and your partnership with us.
